What GRE Quant tests
The content falls into four areas: arithmetic (properties of numbers, ratios, percentages), algebra (equations, inequalities, functions), geometry (lines, angles, triangles, circles, area and volume), and data analysis (statistics, probability, and reading graphs and tables).
None of it is beyond a strong high-school curriculum. The challenge is applying it quickly and spotting the traps the test-writers set.
The Quantitative Comparison question type
GRE Quant includes Quantitative Comparison (QC) questions, where you compare two quantities and decide whether one is bigger, they're equal, or it can't be determined. These reward strategy over computation: you rarely need an exact value, just a comparison.
The key habits: test multiple cases (including 0, 1, negatives and fractions), and choose 'cannot be determined' when the relationship changes across cases. Many QC questions are solved faster by reasoning than by calculating.

How to study for GRE Quant
Refresh the underlying concepts first, then shift almost entirely to timed practice on real question types - especially Quantitative Comparison and data analysis. Keep an error log and revisit your mistakes using spaced repetition.
Because the math is familiar, most of your score gains come from recognising question patterns and applying shortcuts - which only comes from doing many problems under time pressure.
